Major Research Projects

We work on several areas within the ATLAS collaboration and the WLCG.

The LAr Phase-II Upgrade for the HL-LHC

The LAr Phase-II Upgrade for the HL-LHC

We are developing firmware for the Liquid Argon Signal Processor so that the LAr detector can cope with the 10-fold increase in collisions during the HL-LHC era. We work with state-of-the-art Intel FPGAs to define the interfaces and processing pipelines for the raw data digitised in the detector. Colleagues include CPPM, BNL, Columbia, University of Arizona and the Technical University of Dresden.

The SciTags Initiative

The SciTags Initiative

We are the lead developers of the standard SciTags implementation, flowd-go. The Scitags Initiative strives to enable a deeper insight into network flows at the National Research and Educational Network (NREN) level to better understand how these behave and how we can improve workflows in the different experiments belonging to the WLCG.

The WLCG Grid

The WLCG Grid

At UAM we operate a Tier-2 site for ATLAS, UAM-LCG2. We contribute over 1.8 PB of storage and more then 10k HS23 to the ATLAS collaboration so that it can both store data and analyse results to produce high-quality physics analyses.

Physics Analyses

Physics Analyses

At UAM we work on several physics analyses mainly having to do with the H -> yy process.
